Disaster Carry bill on the way to the Texas Governor

May 27, 2019

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas House Bill 1177 passed both the Texas House and Senate last night. The bill will now be sent to the Texas Governor's office for signature. The bill, if signed by the Governor, would change the laws related to unlawfully carrying weapons.

In short, the bill would allow people with their firearms safe passage through a declared disaster area during a time of declared disaster. The bill would no longer require a person to have a license to carry, even if you are not in your own vehicle or a vehicle under your control.
